TRIP TO CALIFORNIA - JUNE 2022
By Susan | Trip to Southern California, California
Your services were very helpful, particularly in relation to Covid travel requirements which were still in place when we flew and then crossed the border. Your advice when we booked in March meant I took the time to get my personal details on my health card changed to match exactly what was written on my passport to avoid possible confusion later. Also your advice to check our passports when we purchased our travel at the start (3 months before our holiday) was essential as due to Covid we had to wait extra time to get my son's passport (as you know) and then we only got it due to the help of MP Brendan Hanley's office at the last minute (ie last 2 weeks before travelling as the passport still hadn't arrived back having been ordered through Service Canada which in my innocence I had believed would suffice). But if you hadn't warned me that there was this developing problem, and then also been able to change our Air North outbound flight to early Friday 17 June, I wouldn't have realized it was a problem, in time to get it at all (my mistake since the passport expired in October 2021 but I didn't realize this as we were not thinking about travel at all during Covid)!!
Air: The flights were great, the service on board was good, the food was much appreciated and the crew were friendly and helpful.
Rental car: The rental car was great and everything went well on our drive to California. The only complications were we attempted to change our pickup time to 2 hours earlier than the time arranged as 1pm and couldn't get through anywhere to Budget (perhaps this was made worse due to being Sunday morning but we talked to lots of people and they said we had to contact you at Yukon Travel and you were closed as it was Sunday of course). So when we arrived early at 10:45am for our pickup at the Budget desk at YVR, hoping we could make the change, unfortunately there was also a huge lineup. So, when we got to the representative and he said that due to unforeseen difficulties they only had a BMW for us to drive, instead of a Toyota, we had waited so long that we decided to just take this option. Obviously it is a luxury vehicle and drove beautifully but unfortunately it was too small for our several tall family members to be comfortable in the back seat. I would have preferred to stay with the Toyota!!
